To assist university faculty in documenting and analyzing levels of student learning on program-level outcomes, the Office of Institutional Performance and Assessment designed and made available two fillable templates in Excel. The first template should be used to enter student scores that come from tests, exams and quizzes with multiple questions, each worth a certain number of points. The second template is created to enter student scores that come from rubrics, which may have multiple SLOs/criteria, levels of performance, and evaluators.
Please follow the steps below to make the most use of this resource:
1) Download the template and save a copy on your computer.
2) Familiarize yourself with the instructions and template layout, including where to input data and how to customize rows and columns.
3) Retrieve the relevant student-level data from internal files and databases and enter it into the designated cells in the Detailed Table.
4) Review the tables and graphs in the Data Summary and Data Patterns sections and make any necessary adjustments.
5) Share the results with other faculty, jointly analyze the results, provide context, and draw conclusions about levels of student learning.
6) Based on the data analysis and interpretation, decide on any necessary actions to enhance teaching and learning.
