Whether you are new to the IE/outcomes assessment process or need a refresher, this page is your step-by-step guide to completing the assessment report(s) for your department.
Step 1: Get Oriented
Start by familiarizing yourself with the basics of the IE/outcomes assessment process at FSU. Sign up and attend the Full or the Refresher IE Assessment Seminar/Training. If all seminars/trainings have passed, reach out to ipa@fsu.edu to request a session recording and/or presentation slides.
Step 2: Access the IE Portal
Your assessment report(s) will need to be submitted in the university system called the IE Portal. You will need to gain access to it and learn how to navigate the platform.
- Sign up for and attend the IE Portal User Training session. If all trainings have passed, reach out to ipa@fsu.edu to request a session recording and/or presentation slides. Alternatively, use the IE Portal User Guide to navigate the platform and complete the reporting tasks.
- Follow the instructions here to request access to the IE Portal where you will submit the assessment report(s).
Step 3: Study Assessment Reports
Once you are granted access to the IE Portal, follow these instructions to retrieve past assessment reports for your program/unit. Review the assessment plans and prior years' results for all active outcomes under your program/unit. These historical records should provide sufficient information for you to understand how the outcomes assessment process is conducted in your department.
Step 4: Collect Data/Information and Submit the Report
Read/skim the Assessment Handbook, paying special attention to the sections that cover reporting and analyzing results and formulating improvement actions. Please note that the Assessment Handbooks vary by the type of reporting unit: educational programs vs. administrative support units vs. academic/student support services.
